Symptom

When you use date or time in PHP, a wrong time is displayed.

Cause

Bitpalace hosts customers in many time zones. It is not possible to set a default timezone for all customers. It is possible that the server timezone delivers a different value than what would be appropriate for your own location.

Solution

At the beginning of your PHP script, add the date_default_timezone_set() command and set the timezone of your choice. Examples:

Alternative:

Alternatively you can set the timezone in your .htaccess file. If that works depends on your reverse proxy, web server and PHP configuraton. Entering the timezone setting into your PHP code as described above is the better choice, because it makes your code platform independent. Example for an entry in the .htaccess file:

php_value date.timezone 'Europe/London'
