Symptom

If you go to a specific page or page of your website, the error "403 Forbidden" is displayed instead of the page in the browser.

Cause

Error 403 can have several causes. This article only describes a lock through .htaccess or ModSecurity settings. Please also note the other articles.

A setting in the .htaccess file denies access to the requested resource, or the Web Application Firewall (ModSecurity) blocked the page request because the invoked URL violated a security restriction. This sometimes applies to URLs that have parameters appended to them.

Solution

Modify access restrictions in the .htaccess file or check if the Web Application Firewall (ModSecurity) has blocked access. To do this, click on the "Web Application Firewall" icon in the webspace control panel. There you will find the link "Error log file", behind which you can find the details on locks. You can either disable the Web Application Firewall altogether (not recommended) or add an exception rule to the security rule that blocks certain URLs in your site. You can find out how to do this on the "Web Application Firewall" page.
